Akari

Islington
Description
Akari was a recommendation from an Islington local. And we approve. We very much consider ourselves sushi lovers and have been to many high-end, top-rated, japanese/sushi restaurants in London. Not only does Akari match their quality, but it’s also way cheaper within a casual and cozy environment.
When you first lay eyes on Akari from the outside, it doesn't immediately strike you as too special. The place was formerly a pub, but having been converted into a restaurant, the old decor has created a casual yet charming atmosphere. And once you’ve tried the delicious cuts of fresh fish you’ll be surprised and delighted to have discovered this gem.
Unfortunately, some dishes were not photographed… Our excitement got the best of us and we just devoured them (sorry guys, we are still rookies) Our favourites were the miso aubergine, seared salmon sushi, crab rolls and omg the matcha panna cotta ( for our matcha lovers) The sake was lovely too!!!
Akari’s menu is designed to be shared with others – something like Japanese “tapas”, so make sure to bring a good group of foodies.
Staff was lovely and attentive and the prices were great value for money. We can't wait to go back!
