UCHI

UCHI , a gem in lower Clapton, Hackney, started off as a sushi delivery place dropping off responsibly-sourced sushi around Hackney by bike. We would describe Uchi not as a restaurant but as an experience. The atmosphere is rustic, relaxing, and authentic, with Japanese style low seating (and who doesn’t want to enjoy their food with slippers on?).

The food is beautifully presented to match the elegance of the restaurant. The menu is refined with unique and unusual Japanese options. The quality of the sashimi was unmatched!!! Melts in your mouth. Add some rich flavours to the fresh sashimi with tempura or skewers. Or go for the sweet miso aubergine, with a perfectly balanced texture - soft but not sloppy. Pair your meal with some sake, hot or cold. And since we have a sweet spot for matcha in desserts, try the matcha and chocolate pudding or a classic go-to mochi.

Uchi is a true neighbourhood restaurant – minimal marketing, little to no press, no fanfare. It’s just quietly getting on with things. It’s not just the food but the whole experience that makes you want to go back.
